16: AN NAHL - THE BEE
128 VERSES MAKKAN REVELATION
The activities of the bee are a duty and usefulness. Disbelievers are warned that to reject guidance would be like rejecting food and drink.
In the Makkan period fighting was unlawful for muslims, many fled from persecution taking refuge in Abyssinia. 50 blessings are mentioned in this surah.
Cattle, olive, date palm, grapes, sun and moon and stars, sea, fresh meat from the sea, ornaments you wear. Hills, streams, roads, landmarks, milk.
This Surah was revealed in Makkah at a time during severe persecution and rejection. The major portion is addressed to the idolaters and polytheists while Prophet Muhammad PBUH and his companions are advised how their behaviour should be in such a time of persecution and how to remain upright.
37: Misleaders have no helpers
48: Shadows make prostration
61: When the time cometh it cannot be put off an hour nor yet advance it
70: Some are brought to the most abject stage of life where they know nothing having had knowledge
75: Is the chattel slave who has control of nothing and one on whom is bestowed a fair provision equal?
79: None holdeth the birds mid air save Allah SWT
96: That which you have will waste away
102: Angel Gabriel revealed the Quran from Allah SWT
103: Idolators charge was that a Christian slave had taught the Quran to the Prophet PBUH
113: The torment seized the disbelievers while they were doing wrong
119: For those who repent and amend who did evil in ignorance Allah SWT is forgiving merciful
