33: AL AZHAB - THE CLANS
73 VERSES MADINAH REVELATION
The battle of the trench, the battle of Quraizah and the marriage of Muhammed pbuh adoped son Zeyd with Zainab.
Battle of the trench is a reminder to believers of the mercy and power of Allah SWT since Allah SWT made the various tribes who attacked Madinah leave. Certain of the Bani Nadir Jewish tribe who the Prophet pbuh expelled from Madinah on the ground of treason went to Qureysh and ghafatn who with all their clans marched to destroy Yathrib (Al Madinah). The Prophet pbuh ordered a trench to be dug before the city and led the work of digging it. When the clans arrived 10,000 strong the trench was finished. The prophet pbuh went out against them with his army of 3,000 with the trench being between the armies. The muslims were exposed to showers of arrows for 1 month. Bani Quraizah who were in the rear broke their alliance with the muslims and made a common cause with Qureysh. Bani Quraizah were not going to show their treachery until the battle of the clans was certain, therefore there was no reason for some muslims to leave the battlefront to go and guard the women and children who were in strongholds.
A secret sympathiser in the enemy camp managed to show distrust between bani Quraizah and the chiefs making them feel uneasy.
There was a bitter fierce wind which lasted 3 days, shelter couldn’t be kept up, fire could not be lit and a pot could not be boiled. Abu Sufian the leader of Qureysh left the battlefront. Ghafatan also left when they sae Qureysh had left.
Then came the siege of Bani Quraizah which lasted 25 days. The Prophet pbuh allowed Said ibn Muadh a chief of Aus to decide the fate of Bani Quraizah captives. He ordered their men to be put to death the women and children to be made captive and their property to be divided amongst the muslims at the Prophet pbuh will.
V.37 The prophet pbuh arranged the marriage of his adoped son Zeyd with Zeynab to break down the barrier of pride and caste. Zeyd did divorce Zeynab and the Prophet pbuh was commanded to marry her to disown the pagan custom of treating their adopted sons as their real sons which was against the laws of God. When arranging a marriage the womans inclinations ought to be considered.
From 25 to 50 the Prophet pbuh had one wife Khadijah pbuh 15 years his senior who memory he cherished until his dying day.
With the exception of Ayesha pbuh daughter of Abu Bakr pbuh all his later marriages were with widows. Two were daughters of his enemies and his alliance with them was a cause of peace
1-5: Your wives are not your mothers. Adopted sons are not your real sons
6: The wives of the Prophet pbuh are as the mothers of the faithful. In so far as inheritance is concerned brotherhood was not to be closer than blood. The Prophet pbuh is closer to the to the believers then themselves
7: The Prophet pbuh gave a covenant
8: So Allah SWT may ask the loyal of their loyalty
9: A great wind was sent against the hosts and hosts not visible
15: An oath to Allah SWT must be answered for
25: Allah SWT averted the disbelievers attack
26: Those who supported the enemy were brought down from their strongholds some were slew some made into captives
37: After Zeyd pbuh divorced Zeynab pbuh the Prophet pbuh married her so that there is no sin to marry adoped sons wives
40: Muhammed pbuh is the Messenger of Allah SWT and the seal of the Prophets
42: Glorify Allah SWT early and late
43: He blesseth you and his angels bless you
46: The Prophet pbuh is a witness and bringer of good tidings and a warner and as a summoner unto Allah SWT by his permission and as a lamp that gives light
50-73: Muhammed pbuh has special privileges in respect to women. Observe conduct when at the Prophet pbuh home. Allah SWT and the angels bless Muhammed pbuh who must be treated with respect. There is a curse for the people who offend Muhammed pbuh or the muslims. Believing women should veil themselves with a cloak when abroad. The punishment for the hypocrites of Madinah. No one knows when the hour will come. Infidels and their fate. Responsibilities of the faithful.
