49: Al Hujurat-THE PRIVATE CHAMBERS

18 VERSES MADINAH REVELATION

The behaviour of a deputation at a time when deputations from all parts of Arabia were coming to Al Madinah to profess allegiance to the Prophet pbuh. The surah deals with manners particularly behaviour toward the Prophet pbuh. Many sought audience with the Prophet pbuh who were uncivilised

6: If an evil liver brings you tidings verify it in case you smite a folk in ignorance and after repent

9: If two parties of believers fight, make peace between them. If one does wrong shows aggressiveness fight them until they return unto the ordinance of Allah SWT

10: Don’t defame or insult one another by nicknames

12: Shun suspicion it is a crime. Spy not nor backbite. Would one of you love to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would not so don’t do the above either

Only Allah SWT can determine ones notability based on his piety

Don’t think you are superior or think you have done Allah SWT and the Prophet pbuh a favour by accepting Islam. This attitude might make all your deeds vain

Bedouin lived near Madinah had accepted Islam because they were over awed by its increasing political strength. The true essence of faith had not entered their hearts and they vainly thought they did Muhammed pbuh a favour by accepting Islam. They are warned in the beginning of the surah. Allah SWT asked the prophet to convey to these people they must not thinK Islam is indebted to them. Allah SWT has full knowledge of their inner and outer selves. Allah SWT has favoured them by guiding them to the faith. Fulfill the obligations.

“Don’t feel ashamed when giving little for charity; that is because there is always goodness in giving no matter how little.” Ali Ibn Abi Talib (RA)
