110 VERSES MAKKAN REVELATION

The name comes from the story of the youths who took refuge from persecution in a cave. They were preserved there as though they were asleep. The two horned one Dhul Qarneyn, Musa PBUH and the angel were revealed to the prophet PBUH in answer to the questions the Jewish doctors of Yathrib had instructed the idolaters to ask as a test of the Prophet hood. This was the time when the opposition of Meccans turned from verbal accusations and abuse to physical and socio-economic torture and bans. This is the time when many Muslims migrated to nearby country of Abasinya.

The questions were of the youths of old their fate and a much travelled man who reached the sunrise and sunset regions of the Earth his history and the spirit what it is. The tormentors of the Prophet PBUH returned from Yathrib to Makkah to put these questions.

The Prophet PBUH said he would answer them tomorrow but didn’t say In Sha Allah If God Wills and as a reproof of this omission the revelation did not come to him for some days and when it did came with the rebuke

When the fish took its way into the waters and Prophet Musa pbuh retraced his footsteps to where the fish had taken into the water. There Musa pbuh found Al Khidr. Musa pbuh asked if he could follow Al Khidr to the end and was told to not ask any questions. Musa pbuh asked about the ship, the boy and the wall. Musa pbuh was then given the interpretation.
