109 VERSES MAKKAN REVELATION

If only there were a community of those destroyed of old that believed and profited by its belief as did the folk of Jonah a prophet PBUH.

The emphasis is on the oneness of God, prophethood and life after death. This surah answers the objections of disbelievers they raised against the prophet hood of Muhammad PBUH. It also describes the day of judgement and reminds us that the life of the world is but a test.

3: Allah SWT created the heavens and Earth in six days then established himself upon the throne directing all things

21: Our messengers (angels) write down what ye plot

41: Unto me my work and unto you your work

88: Musa PBUH said; Destroy their riches and harden their hearts so they believe not until they see the painful doom

89: Musa PBUH prayer was heard

92-109: Pharoah was saved in his body to be a portent for those after

Makkan pagan objections to the Quran; they said the Quran was fabricated and challenged Muhammed PBUH to immediately bring the punishment of Allah SWT if his claim was true. They also demanded Muhammed PBUH change the Quran to no longer condemn their practise of idolatory and using intercessors when worshipping Allah SWT

Don’t believe when it is too late like Pharoah of Musa PBUH. The people of Jonah PBUH repented believed. Therefore unlike the people of Noah PBUH and Musa PBUH they were averted from Allah SWT punishment. Muhammed PBUH could ask the people of the book Jews Christians who would confirm the Qurans account of those people.
